Kuhu Mai is a unique collaborative initiative in Heretaunga that provides comprehensive support and services to vulnerable people experiencing chronic conditions like homelessness, mental illness, addiction, shame, food insecurity, isolation, and disconnection. We offer a safe space where people can enjoy true wrap-around support, meals, showers, charge their phones, and access a variety of support services. Our non-transactional approach to care and our emphasis on long-term trust relationship promotes dignity, belonging, and self-agency. We work closely with other agencies and providers to bring positive client-led outcomes for our friends and whanau. Kuhu Mai removes barriers and bridges social, health, justice, and cultural gaps, fostering a sense of empowerment through collaborative community.
